Swashi runs natively in 18 languages. The same 18 are used everywhere: the app, every email Swashi sends you, your voice agents, the chatbots and the content you generate. You set one master language for your account, and you can run specific surfaces in a different language when you need to.

## The 18 supported languages

| Language | Language | Language |
|---|---|---|
| English | Portuguese | Indonesian |
| Spanish | Russian | Japanese |
| French | Turkish | Korean |
| German | Arabic | Malay |
| Italian | Hebrew | Thai |
| Dutch | Hindi | Chinese |

Arabic and Hebrew are written right to left, and Swashi's emails display them that way.

> **Note:** These 18 are the full list. If a language is not in this table, Swashi does not support it yet.

## Your master language

Your account has one master language preference. It controls:

- The **app** interface.
- **Every email Swashi sends you**, including reports and notifications.
- Your **voice agents**.
- The **chatbots** on LINE, WhatsApp and Telegram, and in-app chat.

Swashi detects your language automatically from your location when you sign up. Once you choose a language yourself, your choice always wins.

### Change your language

1. Click **Select Language** in the app header, or open **User Settings** and find **Language**.
2. Pick your language.
3. The app switches straight away.

If you see **Language not saved — your agents will keep the previous language**, try again. Your agents keep using the previous language until the change is saved.

## Run a surface in a different language

Under **Advanced language settings** in **User Settings**, you can set a different language for:

- **Content generation (blogs & social)**
- **Voice agent calls**
- **Outreach emails to your leads**

Your dashboard language stays as you set it in the header. For example, you can use the app in English while your outreach emails go out in Spanish.

## Language by feature

### Website content
Each connected website has its own detected language, shown in **Website Settings** as **Language detected**. Swashi also notices when a site uses several languages. You can choose the language for each site and for each article. In **Trending Articles**, set the **Content Language** for news-based articles. See [Website content](https://swashi.io/docs/content/website-content).

### Social posts
When you automate posts from trending news, you choose the topic, region, network and **language** of your posts. Generated images can carry exact text in any of the 18 languages. See [Trending and autodraft](https://swashi.io/docs/social/trending-and-autodraft).

### Email outreach
Outreach emails can be written in the language you set for outreach. In several markets, Swashi finds, validates and contacts leads in the prospect's own language, without falling back to English. Lead details are described in your own language.

### Voice and the AI Receptionist
Voice agents speak all 18 languages, and every voice persona speaks every supported language. During a call, the caller can ask for another language or simply start speaking it, and the agent follows:

- Languages with their own script switch immediately.
- Latin-script languages switch after a clear sentence.

The agent greets callers with the right time of day for their timezone. After a call, it sends the caller's confirmation email in the caller's language.

Your AI Receptionist answers in the language you choose. Multilingual answering is part of **AI Receptionist Business**, included from the Agency plan. See [AI Receptionist](https://swashi.io/docs/voice/ai-receptionist) and [Personas and voices](https://swashi.io/docs/voice/personas-and-voices).

### Chatbots
The LINE, WhatsApp and Telegram bots support all 18 languages, with automatic detection. Their menu and welcome card are translated into all 18. The bot answers in your account language. See [Chatbots](https://swashi.io/docs/chat/chatbots-line-whatsapp-telegram).

### Business Brain
List the languages your business serves in the **Languages you serve** field of your [Business Brain](https://swashi.io/docs/getting-started/business-brain), so your agents know which languages your customers use.

## Troubleshooting

- **The app is in the wrong language:** choose your language manually with **Select Language**. A manual choice overrides automatic detection.
- **Emails to leads are in the wrong language:** check **Outreach emails to your leads** under **Advanced language settings**.
- **An article came out in the wrong language:** check the site's detected language in **Website Settings**, and the language chosen for that article.
